With its iconic offset body shape and extensive onboard controls, the model of electric guitars we sampled for Evolution Indie Rock is a favorite among many alternative and indie rock guitarists. This preference is undoubtedly due to the extra punch that the guitar’s shorter scale length yields, not to mention the unique design of its two single-coil pickups that give the guitar its signature snappy tone. It thrives with distortion, but also cleans up nicely without losing any of the energy it brings.
The guitar’s tonal versatility is well represented in Evolution Indie Rock. Its neck and bridge pickups are available as separate signals that you can blend between, offering a wide gradient of sounds.
We developed the library in collaboration with Rosewood Recording Company, one of Utah’s most venerable recording studios. Guy Randle, the owner and recording engineer at Rosewood Recording Company, incorporated analog gear to skillfully sculpt and emphasize the rich tonal qualities of the guitar. Evolution Indie Rock includes both the as-recorded signal, recorded directly from the guitar’s output jack, as well as an enhanced signal that can be blended to your taste.
The guitar samples were performed by Robbie Connolly, an accomplished guitarist and keyboardist who performs on some of the world’s largest stages with the Killers. He also tours as the co-frontman and lead guitarist for Fictionist, opening for acts like Imagine Dragons and Vampire Weekend.
The instrument is hosted by our Evolution engine, which provides you with a wealth of appointments: a comprehensive collection of effects, built-in strumming patterns, and a generous amount of settings to tailor the instrument to your performance needs. Whether you’re looking for meat-and-potatoes distorted powerchords to energize your rhythm section, or dreamy ambient textures that ignite your creativity, Evolution Indie Rock delivers it all.

Evolution Indie Rock licenses Native Instruments’ Kontakt Player sampler software. Consequently, owning the full version of Kontakt is not necessary, and Evolution Indie Rock operates without limitations within the free Kontakt Player application/plugin. This also allows the sample library to be listed in the libraries tab in Kontakt for convenient access.
Evolution Indie Rock is NKS-ready. The integration with the Native Kontrol Standard presents many benefits, both when using the library in the Komplete Kontrol software as well as in conjunction with Komplete Kontrol hardware, such as the Komplete Kontrol S-Series keyboards and Maschine.
In addition to Evolution Indie Rock being displayed in the Native Browser among your other Komplete Kontrol instruments, there are a variety of other benefits. For example, thanks to Native Instruments’ Native Map® technology, you can control the library’s various parameters directly through connected hardware right out of the box. Furthermore, the keyswitches and key ranges are shown using Light Guide, an innovative technology that displays the key colors directly on your Komplete Kontrol S-Series keyboard.
We recommend using Evolution Indie Rock with a Komplete Kontrol S-Series keyboard for the full experience. While not a requirement, you will be able to take advantage of the Native Kontrol Standard for an intuitive connection between software instruments and hardware.
